What I will do for the village and you
The following items are a snapshot of several items. Ask me about others.
Identify and enact vacant building storefront policies that have been successful in other communities to fill vacancies. Vacancies hurt existing businesses and the town image. Steps can be taken to address vacancies without harm to the property owners.
For example tactics such as: registration, and maintenance is important because vacancies may harm surrounding businesses, tenants, or residents.
It’s important that hazardous materials aren’t stored in vacant properties or that hazardous conditions aren’t present.
We don’t want to have a vacant property inadvertently harm an existing business or residential tenant if dangerous conditions are present.
Livestream and record important meetings (such as Planning and Zoning Commission, Finance Committee) in addition to Village board and Committee of the Whole meetings.
This is important so that the public is aware in a timely manner of projects and decisions that directly impact you.
This also will give the public more time to provide input or concerns.
Communicate road improvement projects and prioritize those projects for village owned roads. There will be more information shared about our five year plans, special road projects, and changes as they occur.
Real Transparency. There is public information that should be shared more transparently. There is information that can’t be shared right away, however, it should be shared more openly at the appropriate time.
Discussions and questions related to motions and items in the board packets need to be brought back into the boardroom meetings and not discussed in advance outside of the public hearing. Everyone loves a short board meeting, however, questions and answers should be heard by all. Everyone should have the same information at the same time. It benefits the public to know and hear the discussions and questions to better understand the projects and challenges.
Balance the budget by exploring alternative funding sources before considering adding or increasing fees and/or taxes.
Ensure everyone is treated fairly and equally.
Everyone who applies for a Commission or Committee position will be interviewed and considered.
I work for everyone, not just political allies or supporters.
Look for opportunities to enhance and support:
Entrepreneurship
Small businesses
The arts
The needs of our low and fixed income residents
To explore and provide more entertainment opportunities for adults and teens
Prioritize solutions and fixes for stormwater flooding situations in other areas of the village. Yearly funding was previously dedicated for this purpose.
